Visual microphone can pick up speech from a bag of potato chips

Talk about science fiction and spy movies…

This one makes a lot of sense, I mean, sound is vibration, so if we can “see” those vibrations on a surface with a fast enough camera, then it should be feasible to reconstruct that vibration back into sound with some well done algorithm.

I guess we’ll have to be carefull where we throw our chips bags 😉
